A native of Santiago, Chile, G-Form athlete Coco Zurita is one of the most talented vert-riders on the planet.
Zurita has competed in at least 11 X Games events. He was awarded Rider of the Year at the Dew Tour Series in 2010 and he also won the 2013 BMX World Championship. Best of all, he's the first athlete in the world to ever land a triple tail-whip in competition. Yeah, we weren't kidding, this guy is amazing.
We caught up with him and learned more about what drives and inspires this BMX sensation:
When and how did you first become interested in bike?
Since the time I turned two years old my dad has spent a lot of time with me on bikes, cars, and anything with wheels. When I turned thirteen, I discovered the BMX freestyle world and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Besides your Dad, who else inspired you?
My first influence into the BMX scene was my cousin! We used to ride bikes back then and he was the first one who introduced me to the BMX world.
Best moment in your career so far?
Receiving a silver medal at the X Games.
Which G-Form products are a necessity for your performance, and why?
I really can’t live without the Pro-X Knee Pads. The technology behind the products is amazing- so thin and flexible yet so protective. These pads are also super comfortable, I could wear them while I am sleeping… hahaha.
What are your goals for the upcoming season?
I would love to get a solid podium in the X Games and develop some unique and original videos. I’d also like to travel to exciting new places in Asia and Europe to share BMX with other people around the world.
Favorite food? Chicken Burritos!
Favorite book? The Bible.
Favorite song? It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll) by AC/DC
Your idea of a good time?
A sunny day with bikes and fast times, good food, God, friends or family.
Favorite place to travel? Germany!
Favorite spot to ride? Woodward West in California.
Advice for beginners?
Take your time learning new tricks and avoid getting hurt too often. Play smart and not hard, don’t give up on your dream. I didn’t give up on my dream and that’s why I am where I am. I thank God; faith is an important factor we cannot forget.
What other sports do you enjoy/other interests?
When I am not biking you can find me car racing, boxing, taking photos or shooting video.
If you were not a professional BMX athlete what would you be doing?
Racing cars or working in a creative area for film production or marketing.
